I don’t want things to be equal. I want everybody to be able to use the resources that they need to live. I don’t want you to have the same amount that I have because that’s what’s “fair”. I want you to have what you need to succeed. I want you to have what you need to thrive, regardless of whether it’s the same amount, less, or more. You need to live your life. Poverty is man-made. If we didn’t have any money and we had to live off the land, what are you going to go to? You’re going to hunt, fish, and to get whatever you need. People withhold that from other people, creating poverty. I don’t care about fairness and everybody having an equal amount of whatever. It’s selfish, low, and sad.
Another thing that is important to me is basic human rights, like ethnicity and religion and all of that stuff. It should not matter what, who, or where. We live on this earth together. There wouldn’t be community if it wasn’t for people interacting with each other, mingling, getting to know each other, and just living their normal life.
Why is power even a part of the government? How does power have anything to do with the government? I feel like people only use the term “power” because they don’t know any other words. Their vocabulary is short. When I think of the word “power” I think of the words: strength, team, love, and relationships, not “government”. Being President is not about being in power. You are representing the people. How are you representing the people but also dividing them at the same time? I don’t get that.
RACIAL MOVEMENTS
People hear Black Lives Matter as a slogan, but I do not. I hear Black. Lives. Matter. I hear three different words that are so powerful. People don’t understand that it’s not just a movement or a slogan. For as long as this world has existed, as long as there have been people on this earth, black people, people of color, have been tortured, enslaved, perceived as property, as animals, as less than animals.
Can you imagine walking down the street and just because somebody took a glance at you and you happened to be black, they can determine whether or not you’re going to live or not? Can you imagine? Being a white person, can you imagine? They don’t understand because they don’t experience it. It’s so mind-blowing to me that people don’t see it. Not only do they not see it but they choose to ignore it.
It’s so important to just listen and to be civil. I feel like people use Black Lives Matter as an excuse to push us down even more. Black Lives Matter is not a destructive organization. They’re not people who are looking for hate. All they’re asking for is fairness. We’re not saying it’s your fault that there were slaves. All we are asking is for the right to live our life, without being harassed and tortured. We don’t even want the roles to be flipped. The thing that they don’t understand is that Black Lives Matter is an organization to help people of color live a life they deserve, a life where they have the same opportunities as white people.
If you prick my finger and the blood comes out, it’s the same color as a white person’s. That’s all that should matter. The love and respect that I give you should be enough. Everybody is just so caught up with black versus white, this versus that. None of that matters, because at the end of the day, especially if you’re religious, when you pass, you’re going to Heaven if you have lived a life that God has deemed good enough for you to make it past the Pearly Gates.
BLM a community that promotes growth. They are a community that promotes love, culture, and difference, and all of these things that should be good. Black Lives Matter wants you to be who you are. They don’t want you to be something that is forced on you. I will say, for a lot of people, they don’t know any different because that’s what they’re taught. I wish that people would just have an open mind and have a conversation. That might be a little wishful thinking.
“Don’t judge a book by it’s cover.” The contents of the book could be amazing but you would never know because the cover isn’t something that interests you. That saying will last forever until there is no more hate in the world.
THE ROLE OF THE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT
It’s so important to handle money with care because people don’t understand the fact that money is so deeply rooted into everything. It has been around for so long and people don’t know the history of money. Once they realize how important it is to understand money and know it’s history, they won’t continue to abuse it. I feel like it’s important for everybody, especially the government, to be transparent with how they handle money and how they use tax dollars. They should be transparent about who they tax, how they put it back to the community, especially Black, Latino, and any communities of color.
MINORITY REPRESENTATION
I feel that if we had more people from different backgrounds, not only different ethnicities, but also people who have struggled, fought, bled, and sweated for what they have, could be a part of this government, it would create more of a balance. The type of people in the government don’t have the same experiences that other people do. If we had people who had hardships and who have been drug through the mud, and who had nothing and still created their own life, having the same opportunity to be in the government, then things would be different. People are shot down and turned away and shunned by the government. They want change and people in the government do not want change. It’s important for us to have, not only people of different ethnicities but also women. Women have it so hard. It makes me want to cry. They have it so hard. If we were to talk about power, women have power. Women are so strong and resilient, imagine them in government, making changes. I would say that more women with different backgrounds would make a huge difference. Beyoncé had it right.
TWO PARTY SYSTEM
Getting rid of the electoral college is important and could be really beneficial. I was just talking with my sisters about this. One of them was talking about voting and who she was going to vote for. My other sister said, “If you don’t vote for the two running candidates, your vote is wasted.” I was like, “No.” “Your voice is still being heard, whether or not your candidate is still in the race or not.” Telling somebody that their vote is a waste is being a bully. You don’t understand. A vote is your worth. It’s you communicating how you feel things should be run and how you perceive things. If you tell somebody not to vote, you’re pressuring them into thinking that the country is based on two parties, but it’s not. People have died so you could have the right to vote. Don’t tell people that their vote doesn’t count. I’m going to vote for who I want to, whether or not they have the potential or opportunity to be in office. I’m going to vote for who I think is going to make change, whether or not they will be in power. That is really important to me.
Screw the Presidential election. Vote local. That’s where you can make the most change. When you start changing your community and vote people in to make changes so that the community can become one and unite.
